There was a very respectable seven strong turn-out for the Oxted to Sevenoaks hike.
The hike initially took us through woods where we enjoyed “Green bathing”.
We picked up the Greensands Way and the trail became rather hilly winding through woods until it emerged with fantastic views and we lunched overlooking the Weald.
After lunch we climbed up to the pretty village of Ide Hill. There we stopped off at the Community Store and Tea Shop for drinks and cake/chocolate.
The final leg of the walk was much easier going but not without it’s own special feature; a ribbon of McMansions in varying degrees of vulgarity and size.
By the time we got to Sevenoaks we were so tired we just jumped on the first train home to London.
Walk stats: 13¾miles, 637m ascent, 627m descent. Highest point Ide Hill. Duration 7 hours including breaks.
Thanks to Patrick for leading a brilliant day walk. We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
