Join other keen Ibexers for a late May Bank holiday in beautiful Pembrokeshire, near St David’s, for stunning coastal walking amongst the May flowers and clear waters of this delightful part of Wales. The weather at this time of year is often glorious though it can’t be promised.
The coast path is undulating so is not without challenge and there are ample options for inland routes too. But it is nice to be by the sea! Pembrokeshire beaches are great for safe swimming, coasteering and kayaking. The latter two options won’t be offered by Ibex unless some members step forward to organise them on the weekend.
There will be 2 full day guided walks (minimum) on the Saturday and Sunday and a half day walk on the Monday.
Individuals may also undertake their own walks or their own activities if they wish, eg:
The St Davids Cathedral Festival which runs from 24th – 31st May www.stdavidscathedralfestival.co.uk
The Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival 25th & 26th May, Oriel y Parc, St Davids which is a celebration of food, crafts and culture that originate from the Pembrokeshire countryside.
We’ll be staying in the comfortable and well-appointed Caerhafod Lodge close to the coast path (see all the photos and room configurations on their website) but there’s a comfortable communal dining/living room and fully equipped kitchen for our traditional group meals. There’s also ample outside space.
The average drive time from London is around 5.5 hours (specific location dependent) and its possible to get public transport to only a 16 minute walk from the lodge via 2 trains (Paddington to Newport then change for Haverfordwest and then a bus) so this is flexible for a range of departure options.
Don’t delay, this is bound the be popular!
